10.1 Play or record to USB mass storage device

You can playback music from a USB device on Center.You can also transfer the music library to a

USB mass storage device, so that you can carry your favorite music with you wherever you go.

10.1.1 About USB device

Compatible USB mass storage devices:

The following devices can be used on Center:

• USB ﬂash memory devices (USB 2.0 or USB1.1)

• USB ﬂash devices (USB 2.0 or USB1.1)

Supported formats:

• USB or memory ﬁle format FAT12, FAT16,

• FAT32 (sector size: 512 - 65,536 bytes)

• MP3 bit rate (data rate): 32-320 Kbps and variable bit rate

• WMA v9 or earlier versions

• AAC (AAC-LC audio up to L3 in

• MPEG-4/.m4a ﬁles.)

• Directory nesting up to a maximum of 8 levels

• Number of tracks/titles: maximum 9999

• File name in Unicode UTF8 (maximum length: 256 bytes)

Center will not play or support the following:

• Empty albums that do not contain any MP3/WMA ﬁles and hence will not be displayed.

• Unsupported formats are skipped (e.g. ﬁles with .doc extension are ignored).

• WAV, PCM audio ﬁles

• DRM protected WMA ﬁles

• WMA ﬁles in lossless format

Important!

• In some USB ﬂash players (memory) devices, the stored content is recorded using copyright

protection technology. Such protected contents cannot be played on any other devices (such

as the Center).

• Protected (DRM) WMA ﬁles cannot be played due to copyright issues.
